Who We Are

We exist to dismantle stigma, discrimination, and disparities in mental healthcare for marginalized communities through advocacy, education, and community empowerment.

What We Do

The core pillars of InsideOut are our education classes, programs, and legislative advocacy. Through these, we foster the community empowerment to power real change.

How You Can Help

Mental health conditions affect all communities. Which means all voices should be heard. Help us make that happen.

Our Story

InsideOut was founded in 2022 with the goal of uplifting the voices of those directly affected by mental health into spaces where they are not normally heard but are critically needed. Our core focus is the intersection of marginalized populations, the systemic bias and disparities they face, and mental health.

Since then, we continue to leverage our team members direct lived experience in these areas to develop and deliver educational programs in varied spaces, from universities, to organizations such as the American Psychiatric Association to corporate industry leaders. It has also continually advocated for systemic change at the legislative level in order to transform those systems that create disparities into systems of change and empowerment.

How You Can Help

Mental health conditions don't descriminate, but overwhelming evidence shows that the mental health care and criminal justice systems too often do. At the moment you are reading this, million are suffering in spaces that are understaffed, underesourced, and unequal in care, access, dignity, and respect.

We are taking action to change this through advocacy and education, and our third pillar is community empowerment—which means people like you. Will you join the cause?

Sharing stories about your experiences with your mental health and/or how your being a member of a specific community or communities affected said health or access to care can help others who may be struggling with similar challenges. It shows them that they are not alone.

These stories also provide the human connection to what would otherwise be numbers on a sheet . Personal stories are the words with the power to change hearts and minds.

As we continue to grow and expand, we’ll need passionate and dedicated partners to work with us to change the systems of power and address the disparities affecting our communities to that others don’t have to live through the experiences that brought us to this advocacy in the first place.
